Role Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our finance team at our company. The Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, and supporting strategic financial initiatives. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards (GAAP or IFRS).
- Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to senior management.
- Assist in the preparation of budget forecasts and financial projections.
General Ledger Management:
- Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of journal entries and reconciliations.
- Perform monthly and year-end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Manage intercompany transactions and ensure proper reconciliation between entities.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Supervise the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
- Coordinate with vendors and clients to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to payments.
Tax Compliance & Filing:
- Prepare and file corporate tax returns, including GST, and other relevant taxes.
- Coordinate with external auditors for tax audits and assist in implementing any recommendations.
Financial Controls & Audit:
- Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Prepare for and manage annual audits, providing necessary documentation and support to external auditors.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of accounting policies and procedures.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management:
- Monitor cash flow and assist in cash management activities to ensure sufficient funds for day-to-day operations.
- Support treasury functions, including managing bank relationships and overseeing banking transactions.
Team Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, HR, and sales, to provide financial support and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, reviewing their work for accuracy and compliance.
Ad-Hoc Financial Projects:
- Participate in special projects and financial analysis as needed, including mergers and acquisitions, cost-saving initiatives, and system implementations.
- Continuously improve accounting processes and systems to drive efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting
- Experience in SaaS or tech industry accounting is a plus.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software - Zoho Books & QuickBooks and advanced Excel skills.
- Familiarity with accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax compliance.
Skills & Attributes:
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
